September 19 - Welcome to SSGLI in 2007 - 2008 - We will begin this year with the Sheep Breed Comparison Study (fine to long wool - postponed from June 2007). Learn about the different wool types, their strengths and weaknesses, and their varied applications. Please bring your wheel.
October 17 - Equipment Meeting. Bring your antiques and unusual tools, as well as your wheel, for others to try and discuss. Please bring some roving to spin and information on your wheel.
November 21 - “Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Spinning, But Were Afraid To Ask” - Questions and Answers Session. Rhinebeck Show & Tell. Bring your favorite acquisition to show off.
December 19 - Spin In (bring your own fiber and wheel), Skein Exchange (bring wrapped handspun skein, without your name on it), and Desserts to share (with corresponding recipes).
January 16 - Spinning Dog Hair. Learn how to spin this very warm fiber.
February 20 - Edgings. Learn different ways to edge your knitted and crocheted projects.
March 19 - Braiding with Roving. Create a small item from roving you braid.
April 16 - Chemical Dyeing Specifications. Learn the percentages of dyes required to achieve specific colors for your fiber dying projects.
May 21 - Wet Felting and Fulling. Explore these techniques to create a couple of small items (felt on purpose!)
June 18 - Drop Spindle Spinning. This is such a practical and portable technique to know! Learn how to take your spinning anywhere.
July 16 - Our annual Pot Luck Dinner. Come, bring your favorite dish and its recipe and enjoy the very best food and company imaginable.
August 20 - Annual informal spin-in - Bring your wheels and spin in the company of your fellow spinners.
