The Spinning Study Group of Long Island is a non-profit organization of women and men who share an interest in the fiber arts. Our members spin a variety of fibers including wool, mohair, alpaca, silk, cotton, ramie, angora, camel, cashmere, flax and dog hair. We knit, crochet, felt and weave with our handspun yarn. Whenever possible, our members volunteer to demonstrate spinning at local events and education outreach programs.
The membership fee is $25, and includes a monthly newsletter, use of rental equipment, library privileges, and participation in our workshops.
Meetings start at 7:30 p.m.. Prior to the meeting, from 6:30 to 7:30p.m. instruction is available for new spinners and those needing help. Many members come early to socialize, mentor, and spin.
We meet on the THIRD WEDNESDAY of each month, in Smithtown, Long Island. Please email us for more information. Attend one of our meetings and introduce yourself. We would enjoy meeting you.
